Animal Assisted Therapy
Young people interact with a variety of animals of their choice in a calm, natural setting supported by a therapist. The sessions are adapted to suit what they enjoy doing and engage well with. The interventions are varied; often fun and active, other times calm, reflective and relational with the animals.
We currently have goats, dogs, horses, chickens and ducks as well as all the wildlife around us. Sessions can take place in the natural setting of fields and woodland, or in the indoor or outdoor arena, bell tent or cosy log cabin. Eco-therapy; doing bush craft activities, can also be incorporated within theses sessions (see Eco-therapy).
