Having worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for nearly 20 years, I am delighted to be able to offer equine facilitated psychotherapy in the beautiful surroundings of The Haven. My training is integrative which means that I can draw on a variety of different approaches to suit the needs of the individual. I offer short and long-term work and provide a professional, relaxed, non-judgemental and safe space where exploration, transformation and healing can take place. Â
Each session is unique. You may know what you want to work on - wonderful! The horses will be there to support, empower, reflect, respond, and witness. You may not know what you want to work on - also wonderful! The horses are adept at 'knowing' what needs to be attended to, in the moment. The knowing comes from their ability to read, mirror and respond to another mammal's emotions and intentions (in this case the mammal is you!) and we can follow their lead.Â
If you are nervous around horses, we can work at a distance that feels comfortable for you, from behind a fence, with or without touching the horses. This can be surprisingly powerful. Alternatively, we can also work in a very hands on way with up to 3 horses.  Sessions can be reflective; active; based around an exercise; free-flowing; soulful and often fun!  The work is a collaboration and so between us we will find an approach that absolutely suits you.
Some of the areas I work with are:
 Depression and anxiety
Bereavement and loss
Abuse
Trauma, PTSD and CPTSD
Anger management
Stress
Low self-esteem
Loss of direction
Unhealthy relationships
General feelings of hopelessness
Feeling stuck and unable to make changes
