I bring experience working in many roles working with young people and adults in various settings. These include youth work, support work for women with life controlling issues, tutoring young people with autism and debt counselling. As an Occupational Therapist I have experience working in community mental health, physical rehabilitation and working with stroke patients, working with young people struggling to engage in education and working on acute mental health wards.
My training in psychology, coaching, mentoring, CBT, OT and EAGALA allows me to draw on knowledge and skills of a number of fields and choose a holistic approach that suits each individual client. We work with the horses and other animals in a capacity that reflects the client’s journey.
As an OT I am occupation focussed – The OT role is very broad, but simply put I look at a person as a whole in their Doing, Being, Becoming and Belonging (Wilcock, A. A.,1998). I help you break down barriers that get in the way of doing and being what is meaningful to you. Usually this looks like working together to figure out what is meaningful to you and exploring different ways of doing things and ideas. We do this by developing a supportive therapeutic relationship where you can grow your confidence doing fun and meaningful activities in our 1-2-1 sessions.
What are are your struggles? But more importantly, what are your dreams?
